Writing News: March 2021

Hi everyone.

The sun is shining and the birds are singing which can only mean the spring is right around the corner. I have made many resolutions about writing more in this blog. I won't bore you with more false promises that I will do regular updates, but I DID want to check in and tell you a piece of news.

I was very excited to hear that two of my stories (I can't say which ones) have been put on the long list for the Write Mentor Children's Novel Award, for unagented authors. They received a record number of entries this year (over a thousand) so I was extremely honoured that two out of the three manuscripts I entered managed to get a place!

Write Mentor are a great organisation for emerging children's novelists and offers many reasonable priced courses run by authors who write for children, as well as a support network online to meet other likeminded scribblers. Highly recommended!

All that remains for me to do is wait with trembling and fear to see if either of those plucky little ms' make it to the short list!

Even if they get no further I am extremely happy that I have been given this compliment to my work and it lets me know that other people like my writing and I should carry on!

You may notice that I recently posted another short story and will do so again in the next week, as I hate to write these things and then leave them to rot in a desktop folder.
