Writing Update

Thanks for reading my blog, you happy few! Not much to report seeing as we are all trapped inside sheltering from the COVID-19 virus that is sweeping the world, but I thought I would write a brief update.

This month I was pleased to hear that I was given Honourable Mention for a piece of Flash Fiction that I wrote for the Write Mentor Magazine Competition ('Community' Theme). I entered two pieces, and it was the one called 'Mistakes' that got the attention of the judges. Three stories 'won' but only one could be published in the magazine, which was not mine, but it is very nice to receive some praise for one's writing occasionally. If you are interested in creative writing for children please do look into Write Mentor, they run some affordable writing courses and competitions which are great, especially if you are just starting out and need some real practical advice.

This Friday I will post the other piece I had entered called 'Sian's Song', so watch out for that - it's a bit sad! My flash always seems to turn out a bit melancholy.
